DUBAI, UAE / RankWire.AI / – UAE airline flydubai has increased its flight capacity to Italy to meet the rising demand for international travel. According to official statements released via Emirates News Agency, flydubai is enhancing its operations in Italy with additional flight frequencies across key commercial hubs. Starting from the new schedule effective July 31, 2026, the airline will operate double-daily flights between Dubai and Milan-Bergamo, while continuing to serve Naples with daily round-trip flights, strengthening its commercial presence there.

This expanded timetable broadens the airline’s overall presence in Italy, which already includes three weekly flights to Catania Airport in Sicily and twice-weekly seasonal services to Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport in Sardinia, operating through the end of August. Furthermore, the airline has outlined operational adjustments due to scheduled infrastructure work in Southern Italy. As part of planned maintenance at Naples International Airport, flydubai will temporarily reroute its daily service from Dubai International Airport to Salerno Costa d’Amalfi and Cilento Airport from November 1 to November 30, 2026. Flights to Naples will resume on December 1, 2026, with existing bookings automatically transferred to the Salerno route during the transition period.
Codeshare Agreement Enhances Connectivity via Dubai Hub
The newly expanded routes to Milan-Bergamo and Naples continue to operate under the established codeshare partnership between flydubai and Emirates, the international flag carrier. This cooperation enables travelers to benefit from integrated itineraries, single-ticket options, synchronized schedules, and through-checked baggage handling across both airline networks. Utilizing the combined network through Dubai’s central hub, passengers connecting from Italian airports gain streamlined access to long-haul destinations across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, including direct routes to Kenya, Oman, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Zanzibar.
This capacity increase aligns with broader trends in commercial aviation across the Middle East and Europe, where international passenger traffic continues to grow steadily following the pandemic. The rise in flight frequencies supports increased bilateral trade, investment, and tourism exchanges between the United Arab Emirates and Italy. The addition of double-daily flights to Milan-Bergamo provides greater capacity for business travelers heading to Italy’s leading financial and industrial areas, while the daily flights to Southern Italy cater to the rising seasonal demand among tourists visiting the historic sites along the Amalfi Coast.
Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai, commented on the network expansion, stating that Naples and Milan have become vital gateways within the airline’s European network. He emphasized that maintaining consistent regional access for travelers remains a priority, alongside a long-term commitment to improving connectivity to underserved markets. Al Ghaith also noted that market data confirms flydubai’s efforts to strengthen its Italy operations through strategic frequency increases to accommodate the growing passenger flows between the United Arab Emirates and Italy, especially as travel activity accelerates heading into the winter season.
Regional Airports as Strategic Access Points for Passengers
Further elaborating on commercial operations, Jeyhun Efendi, Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, highlighted that boosting direct flight options to Naples and Milan-Bergamo underscores the strategic importance of the Italian market. He explained that non-stop connections allow international travelers to leverage the combined reach of flydubai and Emirates to access popular global destinations seamlessly through Dubai. The airline’s commercial teams are prepared to manage the increased number of daily flights, ensuring high operational reliability across both passenger and cargo services.
These operational enhancements reflect flydubai’s ongoing fleet expansion and global network development strategy. As the airline continues to add modern narrow-body aircraft to its fleet, plans are in place to further increase frequencies on high-demand European routes. The expanded Italian schedule further cements Dubai’s role as a major international aviation hub, enabling smooth passenger and freight flows between Europe and expanding markets across the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and East Africa.
